Teen Drawing Fundamentals (Ages 12+)

Service Description

Tuesday afternoons 3:45-5:15 pm September 29th - June 1st, 2026 (30 classes) $860, monthly payment plan available. All materials included, including individual pencil drawing kit and sketchbook. Maximum 10 students. Class Schedule and Breaks: September 29 - December 8 (11 classes) (No Class December 15, 22, or 29) Class resumes January 5 - March 9, 2027 (10 classes) (No class March 16, 23, or 30) Class resumes April 6 - June 1 (9 classes) The course wraps up with independently chosen projects and a spot in the Yellowbird annual exhibition of work + year-end celebration on June 25th, 2027. No previous experience necessary; interest mandatory! For older students with drawing interest, particularly in realistic drawing. Students explore drawing in pencil, pen, charcoal, and conte, with a mix of colour media and a large range of materials and subjects including animals, still life, portraits, landscape, and botanicals. Each lesson teaches techniques and strategies for independent drawing while encouraging artistic instincts and self-expression. Lessons build sequentially from line drawing, to adding tone, to basic colour theory, with art theory, terminology, and art historical references built in along the way! Projects are demonstrated by the instructor and each student is mentored individually. As the course progresses students are able to choose their own subjects and choose materials for projects. Each project typically take 2-3 weeks and all theory and drawing is recorded in their sketchbook. Students are provided with high-quality art materials so they have the potential to produce the same quality of work as the instructor. Not sure if your child is a fit for this class?
