PD Day Workshop (Ages 7-10)
Oil Pastel Drawing Workshop
Service Description
Friday October 23, 9:00am-12:00noon $40 per child. For ages 7-10. All materials included. Maximum 10 students to allow for individual mentorship. Create your own large (18x24") sea turtle drawing! Practice drawing basics by learning how to put shapes together to make a drawing, embracing "mistakes," and learning different oil pastel techniques such as blending and layering colour, light and shadow, adding pattern, scraffito, and resist. Though we do the drawing together step-by-step, each turns out unique, and students are encouraged to use their own creative flair to add details and embrace their differences. When it comes to completing the drawing, students choose colours and which techniques to use and where to make the drawing all their own. We also explore art terminology, look at other oil pastel art, and talk about our artworks on the wall together. The instructor also takes the students on an outdoor break to Millennium Park to break up the morning. This workshop is created by studio owner Jaye Benoit and taught by Mrs. Blakeny Delcaro, known for her classroom and art instruction at ARES Elementary.
