Service Description

This course has begun and registration is closed. Look back in November for new drawing classes beginning in January! Thursdays 5-7pm 12 week course runs October 9 - December 18, 2025, and January 8, 2026. $420 Supplies included; please bring own sketchbook (11"x14" or larger) Maximum 10 participants For students with some basic drawing or painting experience who are ready to hone their skills and expand their range of approach and media. See your painting skills improve with a greater understanding of drawn line and tonal relationships! Students learn to draw larger scale and build confidence working faster and more gesturally to capture the essence of the subject, with a series of exercises followed by more sustained drawings. Students will capture greater subtlety of tone and detail through more focused seeing and pointed exercises, and be given the opportunity to expand and mix their drawing media. Both traditional and contemporary drawing practices are referenced in our visuals and exercises. Optional homework is assigned each week. Areas covered in this course: - Basic perspective - Gestural exercises - Capturing greater detail and texture - Working on larger surfaces - Beginning to work from life Materials: A range of papers, graphite, charcoal, ink. Please note all projects are in black and white media. Subjects: Still life, Landscape (from photographs and from life primarily, some from other artist's work) This course is labelled an "Intermediate Drawing" course. If you have taken the Drawing Fundamentals or any Intro to Painting course here at the studio, please register! Cancellation Policy

Please note that registered classes are non-refundable and non-exchangeable barring extenuating circumstances that will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Though not guaranteed, students who miss classes due to illness can occasionally be accommodated at another time. We aim for all students to be successful by attending all scheduled classes to the best of their ability, as classes are progressive and projects can take multiple weeks. If a class is cancelled by the studio due to unforeseen circumstances the student will have the option to either request a refund or attend a rescheduled class. Classes are non-transferable once the class series has begun.
