Referencing both historical and contemporary works of art and approaches, we’ll begin with still life to learn the basics and then move on to botanicals and landscape, completing paintings on paper, canvas, and panel, learning art theory, terminology, and visual vocabulary along the way. Learn how to begin to paint independently and successfully with in-person guidance from an experienced artist and instructor. In this small class size, participants learn as much from other student's work as they do their own, and all classes include 1:1 time with the instructor. This course includes a syllabus, handouts, and email communication with your instructor. The studio uses specific and high-quality paint and brushes to lessen student frustration and ensure accurate colour mixing. The completion of this course allows students to progress to all other intermediate acrylic painting class options including: painting animals, landscape painting, portrait painting, and more. Photos are actual student work from this course.
