Oil Painting Camp for Teens

Service Description

Half-day camp runs from 1-4pm from Monday August 17th - Friday August 21st, 2026. For Ages 12+ $255, all materials included. Maximum 10 participants. For creative kids who already love art and want to grow their skills! Learn the fundamentals of oil painting in one week! No previous experience necessary, but interest mandatory! Maximum 10 students. Each morning includes 2 painting sessions with a mid-morning break where we will walk to Millenium Park. Only high-quality paint, brushes, and mediums are used to ensure accurate colour mixing and allow students to reach their potential! The perfect mix of real learning and skill building with creative freedom. Throughout the week we learn about the stages of working through an oil painting, creating space and form, composition, how to mix and modify colour, colour theory and relationships, and more, in a bright, clean, creative space. Students learn techniques and vocabulary from an educated teaching artist (me! Jaye!) doing live demos and giving one-on-one suggestions and instruction. We will be painting a number of small studies and finished paintings on stretched canvas, paper, and birch board. Subjects include still life, animals, and landscape. The camps also focus on how to honestly look at and evaluate art. We hang our work up on the wall at various stages of completion and look at many historical and contemporary artist references to encourage artistic knowledge, variety, and confidence.
